


The promising land of Kashmir lost its independence when the Mughals annexed and joined it with their Empire of India in 1586 A.D and thus from that time it served as the north most point of an empire whose power pedestal was situated in Delhi. The recurrent theme of this article is that Pakistan’s Kashmir policy remained consistent i.e. Consequently, these factors led to the failure of Kashmir policy in terms of realization of its main objectives by reducing it merely to rhetorics. The last portion of this article analyses this policy by isolating discernable trends largely shaped by extraneous factors which subsequently limitized the options and choices before our policy makers. It contextualizes these main planks of Pakistan’s Kashmir policy by situating historical factors which invariably shaped its main contours. Besides providing a synoptic view of the Kashmir policies, pursued by various regimes in Pakistan both civilian and military also provides a thorough insight into all the major developments concerning Kashmir dispute as well as the responses of Pakistani governments’ visà- vis these developments. This article makes an historical analysis of Pakistani Kashmir policy between 1947-88.

This great freedom fighter of Kashmir passed away on 31st July 2003. He was a lifelong defender of transparent and honorable politics. In 1948 due to his wonderful victories The Pakistan Defense Council gave him the title of Ghazi-a-Millat. He has the credit that he strongly defended the Kashmir Issue on the plate forum of Security Council of United Nations from 1948 to 1994. He was selected four times as a President during his life. He became the Founder President of this revolutionary government on 24th October 1947. Due to his struggle a bulky area turns out to be free. On 19th July 1947, he passed a resolution for Kashmir’s Accession to Pakistan. He played an important role in the freedom movement of Kashmir. Likewise, Kashmir has been blessed with great man like the Founder of Kashmir, Ghazi-a-Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan. The history of mankind shows that the people who change the course of trials by shaping the destiny of their nation are taken as heroes and leaders.
